For you who do not understand malay, Dewi means goddess. Furthermore, Sri is famously known among Javanese, at least among old folks, as the Goddess of Rice.
So?
I bet most of you have not heard about this
My friend Kori - his real name is Cory but since I am Indonesian, he kindly let me call him by the name Kori - and Stephani, together with their great team from Skycron Studio are creating an animated film about Dewi Sri. For what I know, it is a big project.
With budget more than three billion Rupiah (Rupiah is not that cheap by the way) and endorsement/sponshorship from cigarettes companies - cigarette companies = hell a lot of money, mass medias such as Kompas and of course Indonesian Embassy, I believe Kori is not bluffing when he said that this film (Sri) is going to be the best Indonesian animation film - although it is produced in Canada.
Have not convinced yet?
THE Twilite Orchestra is significantly involved in the film production, especially with regard to the music (duh).
Ok… I have nothing else to say regarding the film since the official media release is at August 31st 2006. Visit their site or buy Kompas on that day to see it by yourself.
Not to forget, Kori is currently studying Indonesian AND Javanese language in order to be able to display precisely the lip movement of each animated character which will be dubbed primarily in Javanese (or Indonesia) and of course… to be able to answer interview questions from Indonesian media. Geez… that is really commendable for foreigner and trully showing his enthusiasm regarding this project.
I cannot even speak Javanese.
On separate occasion, peace has somehow returned to the holy land. Now, it is time for everyone to foolishly claim victory over the other side, find black sheeps and assemble 15000 UN peacekeepers. Peace to that land!
